Sennheiser HD660S... Finally a successor for the HD650?

I would love to see how this compares to a modded HD650. I would think that it would sound similar, considering the HD650M is universally agreed upon as an improvement over stock. Pretty much the perfect pair of headphones for me.

Has it been confirmed that it is really a new driver (or the HD700 driver)?

A dealer I know just told me Sennheiser says they 'accidentally' shipped his 660's to him and they've asked him not to release them till November 16th.

Will be interesting to see if that ends up be the street date for the U.S.

"Think a HD650 with a cleaner and more ‘dynamic’ sound. A less ‘romantic’ HD650 perhaps. A bit fresher/modern version of the HD650"

So... basically hd650 meets hd600 highs?

I could not understand the bass response from the 660s...

"Bass on the HD660S is noticeably ‘tighter’ and better defined. The HD650 can be slightly ‘soft/wooly-ish/warm’ compared to the HD660S"

It seems more refined and tighter, but does it hit harder or does it go deeper than on the 650s?

Yet on the graph comparison with the 650, one would assume there to be no audible difference at all in bass character. If there is an audible difference, it would be what the difference in the highs would be contributing to the bottom end? Or are graphs inaccurate?

Usually i do not trust in graphs. I prefer to trust in a persons descriptions and comparisons.

You are wise if that person is you.
