Exactly longbowbbs,

That's what I meant in my previous message :)  And listening to some awesome music is what I was and what I am still doing :)

Wish you lots of pleasure with your HD650

I love that you have the HD800 and still listen to the HD650. It's like a giant shout-out: "You're ok w/ your HD650!"

Don't think I will ever sell them. There is something about them that I find timeless.

For me the HD650s are an exit level headphone, as in an exit from the endless search for a better headphone :) With the Tera player, an iCAN amp and a TDS202 sound enhancer, the sound is the best I have ever heard. Nicely balanced with lots of sub-bass from the well executed bass boost on the iCAN, the warm mid-bass and mids of the HD650s and the expanded soundstage and amazing detail that the 3D effect on the iCAN and the TDS202 provide. Contentment is sweet!

I'm all for that, I'm hopelessly in love my 650's. From the design (vintage Sennheiser) to the incredibly impressive dark/warm, detailed sound that radiates from them. Just stick on bit of Diana Krall, sit back and enjoy.

The key word being enjoy.

It's a bit silly to fixate on where others place the HD650 in the scheme of things. Preferences and a myriad of other factors aside, individual financial thresholds makes consensus impossible. One person's TotL can be another's entry level based purely on means. It says nothing about the headphone itself.

I floated in the honey of the HD650 for two years before planar curiosity got the best of me. It's telling that I've never even considered selling my HD650. They do inspire appreciation and nostalgia.

Hear hear! Having heard many headphones sometimes costing 4-5 times more (including the much-praised HD800 and LCD-3), there's something about the sound and comfort of the HD6xx line that no other headphones do right.

I don't think I'll ever sell my HD600 or HD650 although I'm still searching for the perfect IEM and perfect closed headphone.

It's the 650 and Maddog with Alpha Pads for for the next great while. One open dynamic and one closed ortho. Perfect complements to each other.

This does sound like a pretty good pair. Will you use the Mad Dogs as part of a portable set up?

So much great info on this thread! I was considering selling by HD650s and swapping them for a HE500 but after getting a new DAC I've really started to appreciate the 650s again. I want to get a WA6 now and some aftermarket cables in the future to compliment the 650s.
