Well, a phone isn’t really going to drive anything that well.

Tbh, I find the hd650 is better than many headphones on lesser amps because it’s a smoother listen which makes it a very good all round headphone actually, but expecting it to sound great from a phone is just a bit optimistic.

I will second the notion of an HD650 out of a phone will not allow them,to achieve their best. I run mine out of a liquid carbon so an amp similar would be my suggestion
The Liquid Carbon while a great amp was a bit to warm for the HD650 to me and my friend who owned the LC but its a much better match for the HD800 and HE560.

Lower impedance at 150 Ohms for a better fit with mobile devices seems to be the big difference. Other minor changes include a slightly higher frequency response and SPL and a slightly lower THD. Unsure how different the new transducer design compares to the 650. Pricing seems similar as well.

Frequency response is the same. 10 - 41,000 Hz. Lower distortion is always a plus, even if it it's probably imperceptible.
