I'm having trouble deciding between this (hd6xx) and the k7xx on massdrop, as an upgrade for my Creative Aurvana Live!

Both require an amp, one has better soundstage (gaming) (k7xx) and the other is better for music (hd6xx), but as I use my headphones for pretty much equal TV/Movies, Music and Gaming, I'm not sure what to pick...

You know there are other headphones too like ATH 900X which pretty much satisfies all your requirements.

P.S> Not trying to compare the three so please spare me headfiers from your wrath.

IMHO the hidden gem in the ATH line-up is the ATH-R70x, the smooth mids of the HD650 with a more open sound and deeper bass. They do not scale like the HD650, but man they sound just great with movies and music.

Get both . But if I had to pick only one it would be the HD6XX based on having the HD650 in comparison to the K7XX. I'll be using the HD6XX as a testing mule for the various mods that have been done to the HD650.

Thanks for the recommendation, I was mostly comparing the two because of the massive discount from their normal price and well... Massdrop. Kinda got it into my head that if I upgrade I might as well go as high end as I reasonably can.

Probably off topic from this post now, but Is the ATH a decent enough upgrade from the CAL?

I had the ATH AD900X for about 1 year and replaced them with HD598. I then bought the HD650 and much preferred them over the others for both music and gaming.
