as a neurophysiologist, I can attest to the enhanced auditory cortical stimulation with Sennheiser products, following earwax removal.

I got the HD-650 for $489 CAD tree weeks ago. That's the lowest price I've found on the Internet, for a brand new, "Canadian" pair.
I must say I'm really satisfied with my purchase
Audio heaven
Edit: Well, there was a quote from someone in there but for some reason it's not working

As someone who thought the HD600's were too laid back for my tastes, would I feel that way even more with the HD650's?

HD600 is basically the middle of the road. If you find the 600´s too laid back and dark, then go for more forward and brighter HPs.

I would venture to say if you thought HD 600 is too laid back you may prefer a slightly more v-shaped / energetic sounding 'can, like the Soundmagic HP 100 (or 150), or Almost anything from Denon's line, such as AH-D1001 or AH-D5000 - although those are 'closed'

How do people find the 650 scaling with DACs ? Lots here on amp scaling.
So, what I'm saying is: same headphone amp, with changes in DAC alone. No combo amp/DACs.
Depends on the DAC. Going from the T1 tube buffered to the original Modi, definitely a big difference (tube to ss). Going from the Modi to ODAC small differences. Going to the Modi2 uber bigger differences. Going to the MB Gungnir huge differences. Comparing to Yggdrasil, substantial differences but not huge.
Definitely for myself, the MB Schiit DACs made tremendous differences. I also found this to be the case for my Stax system and speakers. Much improved overall clarity, authoritative bass, and very natural treble. The 800's pick up very refined nuances with regards to details that the 650's also pick up, just having a tendency to smooth over some of the very revealing nature of the better DACs.
All IMO of course.
CM there is a tentative meet in Calgary Nov 15th, if you're interested as well. Or you're always welcome to hit me up if you're in the city.
