Yes, but what I am saying is that I can't find their history anywhere and I swear they had a model very similar a long time ago.

Try here:

Use the 'Headphone Archive' menu in the top left corner. They have pretty much every headphone Sennheiser has released since you were 18. I doubt you'll find any that look like the Momentums.

Not to be obvious, but they have no history because, well, they're new.

They were introduced in September of 2012.

I think he meant Sennheiser's history. But I digress... lets get back on topic.

Just gotten a silver cable onto my hd650....
and swapped out the thin foam over the drivers, for a thin sheet of old stockings,
the sound is JUST RIGHT for my ears, smooth, bodacious with hints of clarity :p
Late nite listening, a glass of oaky shiraz, and choral music....this v comfy hd650 is perfect

After a week, I can confidently say that I absolutely love my HD650s! :D Nice smooth, relaxed sound that makes even bright, fatiguing CDs tolerable, no, enjoyable! (Disclaimer: I'm a vinyl man).

Hey does anyone know a link to J$?  I am looking to get some awesome leather pads for my 650.  Listening to Sharon Van Etten right now and it is sounds amazing.

J$ doesn't have leather ear pads for the HD-650.  Only Beyerdynamic and Denon angle pads.

On the other hand, we need to petition Sennheiser to reduce the cost of the HD-580/600 and 650 pads.  $58-59 is crazy for velour pads.  Even their pads for the HD-555/595/518/558 and 598 any run about $18 a pair (plus shipping.)

$46/pair directly from Sennheiser. That's not that bad. What hurts is the markup from other places...
Sennheiser is also really fast in shipping parts out.

BTW my pads are really old. I don't want to know how much worse new pads would sound... I'll be afraid that the mids will be much less forward.
