Been driving for a day HD 650 with La Figaro 339 and it's heaven on earth! Should at least try a good OTL tube amp with HD650 they are outstanding together!

True, but not cheap tube anps. Never heard your amp, but have seen it on the bay.  Is it a rebranded Darkvoice? Sharp looking amp you got there.
I've heard the 650's on several under 200 dollar tube amps and it's not pretty, but nothing can sound worse than the 650's out of the Udac, pure torture, hopefully I don't offend anyone with that comment.

Glad you think so highly of them, owning two pairs, I'd probably consider swapping a pair for your 800's

Hahaha, I'd take a 650 for $499 over the 800 for $1499 anyday, but if you don't consider the price, the 800 is certainly better by far. Wouldn't trade it for anything except maybe the SR-009.

It figures you have a MacBook air to boot, my next computer purchase, do you have the Channel D Pure Music? I'm just tired of the heat and noise, and the Air being so light is just a bonus.

I don't use FLACs so I've been using iTunes all this time. I don't really hear the improvement over 320kps MP3 so...

Haven't heard it, but the reviews are all good that I've seen, check out the review at 6moons, it's not just a sonic upgrade, but so much more, And I've wanted an Air for a while, I read about channel D first at the apple store online. It's getting near my B-day, nice excuse to get an Air. The review shows the myriad things it enables you to do, looks like Channel D is for me, I use MOG alot also for new music discovery.  I don't use flac either, apple lossless sounds just as good to me.

The MacBook Air is an awesome machine, but you definitely need a USB DAC because the built in one is horrible.
 
Still not convinced to spend $129 on a iTunes plugin...

"Horrible" may be an exaggeration, it seems to have quite decent onboard audio actually

I can't say I blame you, I have several dac's, I never expect much from a machine audio wise.

"With my sensitive Ultimate Ears SuperFi IEMs the MacBook was initially, to my surprise, completely silent. But once I clicked Play in iTunes there was a “tick” and, even before the track started, I heard some soft hiss." This is what annoyed me initially because it hissed so much with my IE80, and naturally it sounded dull with my HD800. I didn't test it extensively so I do admit I was a bit overboard when I said "horrible".

Man, these are great! The bass is at the perfect level, it is audible and enjoyable but doesn't intrude, and those mids are buttery smooth, and the treble is completely non-fatiguing. I can see why these are so highly regarded still. The detail dropoff between these and the Q701s isn't even as bad as I was expecting, these are still perfectly detailed headphones. The soundstage seems more controlled, it almost seems more like a pair of closed headphones, but that could be since I am used to the insanely massive soundstage of the Q701s by now. It definitely works a lot better for rock music and the sorts.

I'm still liking my HD650 (despite falling in love with Woo's build quality and gorgeous look and pretty good sound) on the HA-160DS a lot more than the WA6. So much faster and articulate.
