Sennheiser HD650 & Massdrop HD6XX Impressions Thread

I'm going back through my comments and I can't seem to find if I asked and/or you answered this question. But where did you get the mesh you have over the front of the driver?
I'm not @jonathan c (uh, obviously), but I'm pretty sure it's organza he got at a Michael's craft store. I got mine from a gift sack that my wife got from work.

One of the sacks would probably work. Just make sure it's big enough. Some of those are for jewelry.
I can't tell on my phone, but some organza ribbons are highly textured and might alter the sound (or be uncomfortable if your ears touch).
If you have a crafts shop local to you, you should probably go in to make sure you're getting what you want. Maybe they'd even have some scraps you could get for free?

There is a Michaels store not too far from me. Also I am looking at the Customs Cans mod. There is a copper ring and nickel plated ring variant. Is there a sound difference between them? I know it can be tweaked with the foam inserts included.

No sound difference between the copper and nickel.

Maybe no spate drivers/capsules as well.
For current production models I'm sure they have parts available for warranty purposes (at least).

For those of you using ZMF pads, I'd be interested in which you're using (suede, perforated lambskin or lambskin) and how they're doing / holding up. I wouldn't mind adding a little more bass to the mix without messing too much with their classic midrange signature (although a little warmth to the already wonderful midrange might be nice, too).

Thanks!

Perf lambskin here. Holding up very well after a year, although my HD 6XX are not daily drivers.

I didn't really detect that much of a change with the sound signature with the ZMF pads. But the Custom Cans driver weight mod did add a touch more bass without screwing up the gorgeous mids. Highly recommended mod. https://customcans.co.uk/shop/produ...l-plated-cnc-copper-mass-loading-mod-diy-kit/

Thanks! Will look into. Was it relatively easy opening up the backs?

Anyone here have any comparisons to the HD490 Pro?
