Is this the new model? This looks matte to me, 650 thought was gloss what I am missing here?

Yes it’s the latest design but still glossy like the original. HD600 did change to matte though. There wasn’t a lot of light in the room to reflect the shine.
For anyone looking for more bass out of their 6XX/650 without too many compromises, give the Drop hybrid velour pads a try. They are a bit darker than the stock pads (but not nearly as dark as the solid lambskin pads) so it does push back the upper mids ever so slightly, but the bass is at a whole new level. Almost like a baby Atrium (with the solid mesh).
I'm not sure how long I'll keep them on since these headphones are all about the creamy mids, but I can easily see it growing on me.

Anyone can recommend aftermarket pads that are deeper than the original but without any sacrifice in terms of sound? Once a bit worn, my pads are touching my ears and it gets hot and itchy after some time so I'm curious if a roomy pads exist.
The ZMF suede 6XX pads probably will fit the bill for you.Anyone can recommend aftermarket pads that are deeper than the original but without any sacrifice in terms of sound? The new version originals if you used the old version previously. Are bit deeper and sound a bit better. Since you are talking about 6XX there is a good possibility for you to had the old version.Anyone can recommend aftermarket pads that are deeper than the original but without any sacrifice in terms of sound? Yaxi pads are deeper, IIRC.

I have these and like them
ZMFs pads are almost half the cost of new headphones (hope they are good)

They are exceptional. I'm tighter than tree bark, and I have no regrets about buying ZMF pads for my HD 6XX.ZMFs pads are almost half the cost of new headphones (hope they are good)

ZMF has 3 pads for HD6 series. They WILL change the sound. ZMF has a great video describing the sonics of each.Anyone can recommend aftermarket pads that are deeper than the original but without any sacrifice in terms of sound? Did you have a chance to compare them with ZMFs?

I wonder if this is the truth now? This dismays me. I remember buying spare grilles from Sennheiser years ago before the company was sold.

..... mesh in lieu of foam ..... [HD-6XX shown: note the left earcup ...]
I'm going back through my comments and I can't seem to find if I asked and/or you answered this question. But where did you get the mesh you have over the front of the driver?
