Hello guys!

I recently purchased budget setup - Yamaha A-S300 amp and Monitor Audio BX1 monitors. I also previously had a pair of HD598 and I didn't expect such amazing change in the sound when connected them to the amp. Its completely different headphones now. Sooo smoooth :)

But my question is - can this Yamaha amp drive HD650 300Ohms? What specs I have to check to know that? I am a noob. :)

Also - is HD650 an upgrade on 598? I mainly listen to electronic music (dub techno, ambient, deep house).

Forgot to mention - I have the amp connected to m-audio fast track pro, if that's make any difference. :)

The HD650 isn't really that hard to drive. I suspect you'll enjoy it from the A-S300 if the headphone's inherent signature is to your liking. I didn't mind how it sounded directly from my MBP's headphone out when forced to go without a dedicated amp and dac.
