what are the differences between their sound profile and comfort when wearing ? i'm kinda sold on the 598's , but i've read so much about grado's and FWICT the Alessandro's are somewhere between the 80's and 125's . they use the "UHPLC voice coil wire that the 125's have (and the 80's don't) , bust many comments say MS1's are relabeled 80's . i'm 53 and these will be used to listen to classic rock , smooth jazz and with my home theater . i'm a fan of sparkly airy highs and i want clean solid bass , but not overwhelming base .

The 598/558 don't really have as sparkly-airy highs compared to MS1/2 or comparably priced Grados.  Comparatively, my near-598 modded 558 has a smooth and gentle treble presentation, that I really like.  I don't consider it severe enough to be flawed though.
 
The 558/598 have a slightly more distant soundstage image too.
 
Both cans do Jazz and classic rock very well.  I would give a slight edge to the 598 for DVD movies though.
