I own a pair of Sennheiser HD598 headphones and randomly while I am listening to music there is a little static that makes my listening experience less than ideal.  I was wondering if this is typical for headphones of about a year and a half of age, or if there's is anything i can do fix this such as replace the wire as I think that is the issue due to it getting stuck under my desk chair too many times. (yes I know i should take better care of the wires)

Have no idea if it helps improve audio quality, I bought one for my HD558 and another for my AKG K7XX (different connector for AKG).
