The detachable cord that came with my Sennheiser 497 phones has crapped out. One side doesn't have any sound, possibly a short of some kind. I've tried a few things but nothing has fixed the problem. I was also able to use a different cord from another pair of Sennheisers and they work fine on my own headphones, so the problem is in the original cord.

Where can I get an inexpensive replacement cord that will work with the HD497? Would I have any luck checking places such as Radioshack, or is my best bet to order online somewhere?

I'd think that any cable that does two mini mono to one mini stereo will do what you want, but I don't know if there is such a product right now.

Thanks, that's what I was looking for. I remember checking on the Sennheiser site awhile ago and couldn't find where they would offer these types of things.

are you sure the problem is with the wire itself? you could try cleaning the connectors with alcohol and see if that fixes the problem...

IIRC, there were others with this problem, and cleaning the connectors with a bit of solvent was the solution.

did you switch the right to left plugs to isolate the problem?
