Hi, i am very new to the headphone world. Is the Senn HD465 a good pair of headphones? Or any other similar priced alternatives? I am looking at headphones only, so clip ons or earbuds are out.

I am currently listening to a PX100 with an ipod. Will an upgrade to PX200 be better?

afbug,

To be honest with you, the HD465 (the new model) sounds much darker than your current PX100. Specifically, the HD465 sounds more bloated and less airy/detailed than your current cans.

Oops! Forgot to include it. I listen mainly to Rock and Pop plus a little of rap and techno.

Thanks for the info.

Hmmm....i thought the PX100 is a little bit laid back. I will like something a little more 'upfront'. Which headphones will be a suitable upgrade from a PX100? I don't have a huge budget, approx $80.

You may consider the EH350. Very even response, should be good especially as it is said to be more liquid sounding (besides more even) than the HD497.

Other option in this class, SR60 naturally. Though llikely that wouldn't be my personal choice

If you like the PX100's I wouldn't go with the SR60's. I can understand how people would like them but they are a very different sound from the Senn's. I have the 497's and the 555's and I really didn't like the SR60's nearly as much (I'm deffinitely a Senn fan). From what I have read the 485's are suppose to be much better than the 465's. I just ordered a pair of 485's that should be here Monday so I'll let you know what I think.

I've seen Senn's site and i am confused between their 'wired' range and 'evolution' range. Is there any difference or specific purpose? I guess its in the same price range?

I've also been trawling the forums and it seems like the SR60 is very popular. I never heard them though.

The SR60 sounds very different to a PX100? I will be waiting for your comments on the 485.

IMHO, both 465 and 485 looks good. I am attracted by its design.
