Sennheiser hd231 The Unheard of Headphone from Sennheiser?

    Picture this im in bestbuy and see a Sennheiser booth, interested i try them all out and ive heard of all of them before except one. the Sennheiser HD231i. So i am like what the heck I spend like 5 hours a day looking at headphones they cant sneak a new release past me. so i try them and they are incredible COMFY and HUGE sound stage for a tiny on ear ( more than my hd598s) relatively warm and neutral. So my question is what do you guys know about these? i can only find them on best buy Canada and i think amazon UK. they are not on Sennheisers website.

It appears that the HD 231 are the closed back equivalent to the HD 239. Discontinued model, which Best Buy presumably purchased cheaply to make an extra buck. The did this with the HD 207, which were similar to the HD 202. A ripoff.

I'm in the market for some good budget portables for my laptop. I can currently get these on sale where I live for around $30 (down from $60) - but I'm also considering the much-touted JVC HA-S160 Flats at $22 (regular price).

On paper, at least, the JVCs look to have slightly more range for the price (12-24k/Hz vs 18-22k/Hz). Would I just be paying for the name going with the Senns?

Any recommendations (other than buy both and see for yourself)? I'm all about sound vs price here. Comfort/build-quality is of secondary importance to me.
