After extensive listening to both i find the that the 600 has better timbre than the s2 but that's about it. The 600 has a slightly etched quality to it similar to what happens when you turn up the sharpness to excessive levels on your tv. I think people perceive that as additional clarity.I find the 650 and even more so the 600 to have better clarity than 660S2
Also it can sound a bit thin on certain recordings. The s2 has more depth and more weight than the 600.
Yes the 600 scales better and sounds anemic on linear type amps where the s2 is more forgiving on those.
The 600 is excellent and it probably comes down to amp headphone compatibility. But the s2 is definitely more forgiving.
