Sennheiser HD 630VB Review - First Impressions

I feel so torn about these: The response sounds like my dream headphone. Then I read "non-removable cable" and was like "I could never buy a headphone without a replaceable cable... that's always the first thing to die!" Then I was like "I've had my HD650 for like 3 years and not replaced the cable".

First, you would be under warranty... for exactly how long I am not sure. Also, if the cable actually dies or the dog eats it, Sennheiser has given detailed instructions on how to replace it. It is replaceable but you have to be willing to do a little surgery or find someone who can.

Meanwhile, I just intend to enjoy mine as they are and possibly the cable will last "forever". I am not going to stress over it.

There's also a few HF members that can convert the HD630 to a removable cable (although I don't know what they charge).

So when faced with the question “what to take with me on holidays?” There was no doubt.

HD630VB all the way. Versatility, isolation, adjustable bass depending on environment.

Any comparison with Campfire's new Cascade?

I have both and will compare them.

Waiting for your video reviews my braddah :L3000:
Currently have a Fostex t20rp mk3 as my basshead cans but those need some serious power to drive them. I'm looking for something to take along my bus rides and the 630vb and Cascade are on my radar.

Just picked up a set of the HD630VB== so far really enjoying them. I can't help feeling that these would sound better with upgrade ear pads. Does anyone know of a model that would fit these? I could not find anything researching on my own.
Bigger more comfortable pads would be nice----any help is greatly appreciated!

Awesome to hear you are enjoying them.

Regarding the stock pads, I recommend giving them some time. When I got mine the pads were obviously good quality but a bit thick and stiff. They’ve softened up and it has helped improve the sound. Would be good to know what could replace these when I need to.

I’m wondering if one of Kennerton’s replacement pads would work.

Congrats on the purchase. These are an amazing set of cans. The earpads do soften up over time. I have no issue with mine. I'm not sure about replacement pads. I'm not sure what would fit these.

Did anyone know they made these in a gold color with brown? I wonder if they were some sort of special edition?

I actually like how they look better than the silver:

Just looks like standard to me - but pics taken with really bad lighting

That was what I thought when I saw the photos.

Yeah, I looked at the photos on another computer, and it is just bad lighting.

HD630VB would look good in gold/brown though :)

I verified with the owner that they're the standard silver color. Just bad lighting.
