Funny thing is I bought an LD MKIV just so I could have tubes with my Beyers - but lately the HD600 has been dominating my time with the LD.  Something about the HD600 and tubes - lovely combo!

The HD 600 is simply lovely and I love it with the Lavry (DA10).

Great to hear about your LD - wishing you health to use it and fun, prosperous times!

Well I am now the proud owner of some hd600's :) I actually purchased the 650's also but they are going back. They both sounded great but something about the 600's kept me coming back. They just seemed more "alive" to me. I got somewhat bored listening to the 650's, they just didnt have the feeling to them. I know that sounds weird but it is hard to describe.

I would really like to het a tube amp for the 600's and was looking at the valhalla. What do you all think of this combo. Would the lyr be a better match? I domt think I will be tube rolling if that matters. The other I was looking at is the woo audio wa3.

Just wanted to give an endorsement for the hd600's.  I recently acquired a nice black silk version (and have owned a handful of hd6xx's over the years) and using them at the office.  Regardless of their age and the increasing modern competition they are great phones and you could probably want for nothing if these were all you could have (not that that's the case!) and at the moment I have no negatives to report.

Anymore info on this & where you bought it?

I wish I could do that comparison for myself. But the HD600 soundstage is just about perfect, compared to other full-sized I've owned/heard, though none have been the new top tiers.

Though other currently available headphones are improved in certain areas, the HD 600 remains a greatly satisfying all-round headphone that holds up as an enjoyable and well-balanced listen.

I'm finding greater truth tonight to what I wrote in the previous post. The HD 600 just works really well with everything I feed it. I'm very grateful for the HD 600.

Off topic but I would just like to say that if the hd600 lovers here want a closed can to complement them, the most similar sounding closed headphone may very well be the beyer dt250-250 ohm. In fact I liked the beyer even moreafter a few days comparing back and forth that i sold my beloved senns.

Thanks for this suggestion! I have in fact been looking for a closed, affordable headphone for a while - if it sounds similar to the HD600, so much the better. Would be interesting to hear how they hold up against a modded T50RP (which sounds great, but not like a HD600 - at least not with the mods I have done...).

Fantastic comparison post!  Hats off to you. The HD 600 against some heavy hitters.
