The HD600 came with the four bump headband pad right? I don't think that really matters. In my experience the four bump pad is harder to find though I may prefer it over the two bump one. I have the four bump pad on my HD6XX.

In any event here is a comparison I found of the silk screen and later versions of the HD600. http://audioslams.com/audio/6XOBreakdown_600Series_AcousticScreens.pdf
I don't remember the count but yeah they are a few squares instead of the HD 650 pad, which is what this looks like. I was not familiar with that version and I thought maybe it was a custom job or even a fake rather than factory. I am still not sure. Anyway, the 600 pad is a factory part, I don't know about lately but I was able to buy one from Thomann or customcans a while back.

Thanks for the PDF link, that looks interesting. I know I have seen the info on driver differences somewhere, probably here on the forums.

It's really bonkers how there are so many variations just in the baffle material alone.

It kind of makes sense now how people have been arguing about the same headphone for like 20+ years.

And probably for another 20 more years about the paper vs silk vs metal

Does anybody know why the replacement HD600 ear pads are out of stock everywhere in EU? I can't seem to find a store that would have them for sale. Sennheiser online shop says that they are sold out, Thomann says that they won't have them in stock for 3 months, and the biggest online audio gear shop in my country hasn't had them in stock since December 2021.

There are other surprises at Thomann as well, like they no longer carry the Mutec MC-3+ USB model, but they carry the non-USB model. And they've ditched some other Mutec products as well. This is troubling.

As far as Sennheiser pads, I think somebody upthread said there's a problem making the pads due to lack of oil.

Can't we... can't we all get along?

HD600 is still one of the best mid ranges I have heard. Sounds so realistic. It doesnt have good bass reproduction and lacks some micro details but they are amazing ...

Listening them out of the Dave and just enjoying the music. :)

Anyone running HD600 out of the Mojo 2? Wondering how the pairing is? Mojo 2 is warmer than Hugo 2?

Thomann used to have them but things are looking pretty grim lately. Partsexpress maybe? I can't buy from them here but I think I read them mentioned a lot.

Speaking of Thomann, the HD-600 used to be 299 EUR. I see that now it's at 299 EUR as "Deal of the week". And the 650 used to be 329 EUR, now it's 368 EUR. I mean, I'm all for it, these headphones are worth a ton more, but just noticed that there's been a serious price increase recently.

I paid 385 euros for mine and Sennheiser pricing is known to be controlled. So I have no idea but these prices are still inline with previous pricing and also with value, as you noted.

On the other hand, Audeze has gone up 20% or more across the board, Mutec up 20% or more, SPL had price increases. Things are not looking very good.

Boy, I leave you guys alone for a couple of weeks and this thread devolves into a measurements vs golden ears argument?!?!

Albert Einstein settled that ‘dispute’ long ago (and it’s been in my signature here from the get go):

“Not everything that we count counts, and not everything that counts can be counted.”

I agree with @bagwell359 and @jonathan c and @gimmeheadroom - if you like it and it gives you pleasure, then it’s good. You don’t have to meet some mythical perfect specification, you just have to enjoy your music. Sheesh!!

You mean this thread, or the whole site? :p

Anyway, me and my buds here on the forums measure only how far it is from our rigs to the (closest) fridge where the beer is. And depending on your setup, this could require triangulation, a theodolite, and other complex calculations which decorum prevents us mentioning here.

"There are things which must be measured, and there are things which audioscientologists cannot measure i.e. hifi device musicality. And never the twain shall meet." -- @gimmeheadroom
