Does the card have a built in headphone amp? I read that somewhere. Can it power the HD 600?

Yes, 2 channels of the 8-channel DAC drive a separate LFP which than feeds a headphone amp with 2 dual op-amps (2 buffer amps in parallel for each channel) which are resistor coupled to the output (no caps after the buffer amps).
This is the same DAC (AK4358, DR=112 db) as used in the Audiophile 192 and the ESI Juli@.

You sure it's powerful enough to drive the HD600?
Perhaps Xonar Essence STX or HT Omega Claro Halo are better choices...

HD-600 doesn't require extra power, only more voltage.
AKG K1000 requires more power!
