Okay, I've been browsing the forum for weeks and have finally narrowed it down to one of these headphones.

I mainly listen to Rock, Punk, and a bit of Reggae.

I originally wanted to get the Sen 595's but have been reading that they lack bass. I'm not a total bass head, but I do want some decent bass. I also want a good soundstage.

Any help deciding which headphones would be best is much appreciated.

remember lacking bass DOES NOT = Decent bass....when people often use "lack bass" they generally mean lack impact..aka like the "thump". but, the more expensive phones that generally lack thump tend to have much clearer and often deeper exetension (see senn hd 280- deep, low, clear bass, but not very impactful).

by decent bass, do you mean thump? or the ability to pick out and clearly hear high quality lows?

They're in completely different market niches. Just out of interest, why did you pick the HD595 and not the HD580.

The 32Ω version would work fine without an amp. Now the 600Ω version is another matter entirely...

A bit of both. I want thump and some clarity.

I've been reading that the 580's are better for classical, and have just heard better things about the 595's.

I don't have an amp yet, but I plan on picking one up once I get the headphones.

Great phone, but does not look quite as future-istic as the DT-990. I find it very fun from a nice source with a bit of EQ. Not dark, fits lively music, great with electronics even, just not the best Trance Phone without EQ... with EQ, still not the best, but makes the harsh edges that come form live recordings a bit smoother, if not for those bloody shrill hip-hop lovers who come mistakenly to a Trance club to leave orgasmic screams and liquids on the dance floor...

BTW, if i get the DT-990 it will be the 2003 version. Though I don't think there is much of a difference besides minor upgrades.

The '05 version is worth the extra money over the '03 version.
