hey, I thought I was set on buying the 558's, however, I've looked towards some closed back alternatives. I was wondering, what's better. M59's or 558's? Which one, and why. If anyone has tried on the m50s let me know what you think. Thank you!

well, I was looking for the best sound I can have at school. This is why I like the m50s. They're portable and closed back. However, the 558s are more true to sound. Anyways. I mostly listen to rock and electronic. I'd buy the fiio e11 with either set, so I can eq the 558s for more bass I guess... I dint know, I just felt that the 558s mids were a bit bloated, there wasn't the low bass to fill the whole picture if you understand.

If I were you, I would buy Shure SRH-840 instead of (Fiio E11 + M50) or (Fiio E11 + HD558). Sennheiser HD558 won't provide te isolation you need to use them in noisy environments. SRH-840 are very good headphones, with nice bass and a detailed presentation of sound. Also come with extra pads and detacheable cable and don't need extra amplification.

M50's are okay, but I would put their comfort at a 3/10. Hot, uncomfortable, and smallish earpads would be my review of the m50's. Definitely not my cup of tea.
 
Try the DT770's. I had the 880's, MUCH, MUCH more comfortable than the m50's.

32 Ohm versions don't get good reviews most of the times. 80 Ohm and 250 Ohm are very good headphones. 80 Ohm versions have more bass while 250 Ohm versions are more neutral but still good bass. Both need extra amplification to sound their best, specially DT770 250 Ohm.
