New to this whole thing and I'm not really and audiophile, I just know what I like. I'm stepping up from cheap ear plugs, so I guess any upgrade would be good, but I came across these two for the same price. I like them both and I didn't notice a difference from the short listen I had with them. Maybe with more time. This will be the first time I've spent more than $30cnd on cans so I'm a bit sketchy. I like the design of the AKG's, great clean crisp sound. The HD 555 sound almost the same(maybe a little more airy??)more delicate...not sure what Im hearing. I do like how they cover the ears, but not to keen on the size of them. But those are the choices right now...if there are others in the price range let me know ($130cnd) Also, I need something thats allround for home stereo use (movies and music-mostly rock), gaming with the xbox 360 and for amatuer studio work.
