Sennheiser HD 380 case: What are the elastic straps for?

You can see a few of the elastic straps on the above picture. Does anyone know what they are used for? They look like they might be used to restrain the cord, but I can't figure out how that would work.

They look like tags more than straps. You could probably still holster the jack-end in the one on the left, but I don't think those are actually designed for anything specifically.

Could be, but there's five of them and they have other apparent utility. The case seems to well-made to have random elastic tabs hanging out for no reason. They must be there for something, I just can't figure out what.

Five of them? I only counted two - but I'm not doubting you (I'm guessing you own these).

If there's five of them, you could probably run a string or elastic thread through them to help restrain the cable or similar. If that makes sense.

Different options for putting the jack in, depending on how you curl up the cord, so it doesn't bang around? I don't know, good question. I agree that they are probably not a random design feature.

I'm wondering if some combination of prest's answer and obobskivich's is the right one. I've emailed Sennheiser customer support, I'll report back if I find anything.

I think the straps are for swag points.

I put the adapter in one and some extra cables and jacks in the other ones
