I own the 580's and I don't particularly care for the entire Grado line except for the SR40 phones, which I use as my portable set. Even though I don't like Grados, I see why others would. They're not bad phones, they're just not my cup of tea.

Neither's the primary. It all depends on what I'm listening to. Clasical or ambient, the Senns. Rock or acoustic, Grado.

Oh geez!

I just picked up a pair of 580's last week, and I have been enjoying those immensely with all of my John Coltrane cds. They immediately replaced my Grado 80's. Not sure on how long thats gonna last. Boy, thats a hard question! For now, I'll stick with the 580s.

Isn't it a little weird to compare all Grados to two Sennheisers? Can you imagine a situation where someone uses their SR60's for main use and pulls out the HD600's for occasional recordings? Where are the 280's and 497's that are many peoples second cans? The title seems the far better poll. Sennheiser versus Grado sounds.

For the record, I own the SR225's and had the HD580's for a week. Would love to have both, but my choice is the SR225's easily if only one.

I owned the Sennheiser HD580 for a month or two. I currently own Grados. It's not that the HD580 is a bad headphone (just not particularly good, lol), or that I couldn't find uses for both, but I can only really afford one great headphone. Like blessingx said, both would be cool, but if only one, Grado all the way

I think both brands are excellent though I find my air guitar is better with Grado than Sennheiser lately (although I used to be a 100% HD600 lover).

53% voting that they dislike one or the other... so the poll is in fact showing the "poll-arization" (not quite as much as I'd thought tho). I guess it's not matter vs. antimatter, more like something mellower (oil and water?

That must be why you own both the 580 and 600, eh?

My mistake (unless he changed his profile in the meantime). Whatever... people are entitled to their opinions.

P.S. anytime AIM9x jumps into a thread to agree, it's obvious that a childish and utterly mindless (and I mean zero-IQ) bashing party has begun. Need I say more?

i'm assuming you got this misinformed idea from my profile. it plainly reads, and i quote:

USED TO OWN: sr-325 and rs-1, k501, sennheiser hd600/cardas/clou red and hd580

i don't like them anymore and by the time i had actually decided to sell them, i could actually no longer stand to hear a single note or word of dialogue from them. the only current production headphones i really like are made by grado and stax.
