Chops
500+ Head-Fier
This may seem like a silly thread, (and the fact that I'm getting the HeadRoom Cosmic next week), is almost useless.
But anyway, I'm sitting here listening to my HD580's through this DSP 360 of mine and can't believe how good it actually sounds.
I'm using my old and faithfull Onkyo DX-C320 six disc changer, through Cardas 300-B Microtwin interconnects, into the DSP 360, and then to the HD580's with stock cable.
The cd I'm listening to is "The Best Of Talk-Talk". Except for the fact that this amp lacks extremely low bass, the mid-bass to midrange sounds very open and natural, and the treble is quite detailed and smooth. Very surprising if you ask me.
What I can't get over is that it is just so wide and exspansive sounding. Everything is right there where it should be. Even the vocals seem to come slightly from the front, instead of on top of my head. Sometimes, different instruments sound like they are coming from outside the cans. And to tell you the truth, with most pop music, (80's pop music anyway), I really don't miss that low bass that much. Even at the 40Hz roll-off, it produces a nice, tight, punchy bass that is very detailed and tunefull.
Boy, if I'm ranting and raving so much about this amp, just imagine what I'll have to say about the Cosmic and my HD600's which will be here tomorrow! (well, the HD600's anyway!)
Just wondering, has anyone else listened to this DSP 360 amp with a good set of cans and noticed how good it sounds?
BTW, I always keep the amp in bypass mode. I never use any of those crapy DSP modes.
