Hi all,

I've got CX300's and Ety ER-6i's. The CX300's have a nice bass response, if a bit loose. But, they also lack some high freq clarity. The Ety's are well covered in this forum - very accurate, but a bit cold. I also find them a bit uncomfortable for longer sessions.

What I'd love to find is something between the two - warm yet accurate (I know - the holy grail). Maybe I could learn how to wear the over-your-ear IEM's, but the few times I've tried those... didn't like 'em.

Then I saw the Jays d-jays at about $100 at headroom and thought "more expensive than the CX300's so maybe better sound?"

Can anyone give a comparison between the Jays-d and the ER-6i's or CX300's?

Cheers!

At this price range, I'd go for Mylarone X3 for sure.
$57 shipped but very good

Thanks for that, I've just looked at the x3's and they look comfy - and at $57 can't go wrong. Would you say X3 > CX300?

As for Jay-d = ER-6i - have you heard both of these? I love the accuracy of the ER-6i but want slightly more emphasized bass out of them. Most people say Ety's are the coldest of the cold, so I'm hoping the Jay's have a little more warmth to 'em. Just say 'same but warmer' and I'm there.

No, D-jays are not "same but warmer". Comparing to ER6i: D-jays have recessed ends - no deep bass and rolled-off highs. Mids are also not better (while good anyway, forward and clear) and are a bit lifeless. They are not in the same league with ER6i. They are more comfortable though.

D-Jays are in CX300 league, while sound is very different. CX300 is vivid, colored and fun with well extended ends of spectrum. D-Jays are more accurate, recessed and lifeless.

EDIT: D-Jays are more accurate, clear, recessed and lifeless.

I spent some time carefully choosing between CX300 and D-Jays for Shuffle 2G. I listened to many samples of my favorite genres: rock, metal, jazz, new age, rap. CX300 wins hands down, both in terms of SQ and comfort.

The only CX300's flaw comparing to D-Jays is loose, sometimes flabby bass. I found that it may be successfully cured by UE silicon tips, which are stiffer than CX300 original tips. Bass is tighter now and overall sound is less muddy. This will cost you just $10 + shipping http://www.headphone.com/guide/by-ma...it---black.php.

If you are willing to spend some $120-$150, buy either UE 5 EB or UE 5 pro. They were available at these nice prices recently at amazon or ebay. Both are warm and accurate as you originally asked. None is even close in terms of comfort to CX300. Be careful with 5EB - it is a real bass monster, check forums for reviews.
