Asthetically the 600 is STUNNING IMHO.

Looks wise I think the 580 Jubilee is by far the top. Second would be the 650, then 580 with a 600 or 650 grille. I can't stand the 'marble' look of the 600....horrid IMO.

Oops... I meant the 650. Agree the 600 marble looks kind of odd.

Never sen a 580 jubilee in person... Its very photogenic to say the least.

IMHO of course

I saw a pair way back when at a Good Guys. I could care less about headphones at the time. Though I did end up buying the HD-455 some time later...leaving me with a very negative opinion of Sennheiser ever since. It was further kept alive by listening to the HD-600, which didn't sound bad like the 455...but boring as all get out. I have heard you REALLY need the right amp to make these HD-580/600/650's sound right.

I can't get over how good these cans look. Almost as good as one of the other types of cans...on second though those other cans are much more attractive.

That's a load of crap and you know it. Without a multi-thousand dollar source and an amp to match the price point, you can't tell the difference between the two. Same drivers, same cable.

I disagree. I owned both at once for a couple years, and could hear the differences easily with lower end gear. Primarily dynamics and distortion. The HD600s have better macrodynamics (response to volume changes) and most obviously, a cleaner/less 'warm' sound than HD580s.

Sometimes I wonder if tonal differences are all some people can hear, or maybe they just listen to modern overcompressed music with no dynamics. Tonally the two are identical to my ears, the differences lie in other areas.

this has been prooven... that some folks hear tonal differences VERY easily, while dynamic / transient differences may remain un-detectible. The opposite is also true for some folks. I for one am much more sensitive to tonal differences than transients... Hence my attraction to the KSC75 and K240s, both very sloppy cans that lack transient quickness and refinement. I certainly am one of the few who can not tell the sonic differences difference between the 580 and 600.
