I was wondering what amps you would recomend I purchase if I do buy a pair of hd600's. The cheaper the better as I will surely be purchasing a better amp in the future, but my wallet will be pretty damn thin after buying the 600's. I already own a xin supermini and want to know if you think a better amp will be needed (like I said, this will be an intermediate and temporary amp). If you do think a better amp is in order then I don't want to spend much more than 150 USD. Thanks

Mh...it is a shame that your budget is limited in that way. If you were to raise it a bit you could get a PORTA CORDA MkIII. Corda have a darned decent synergy with Sennheiser cans imo.

I'd say get the HD600 first, and see how it works with your supermini. If you aren't satisfied, then look for an amp.

What about a pimeta with OPA2227P or AD8610/8620 op-amp?

I would consider getting a Gilmore lite (or get someone from the DIY forum to build you a dynalo, which is the same as a gilmore lite) for about that price (give or take some).

I have an HD600 + equinox cable with a dynalo that I built and it is an exceptional combination. It brings out alot of the qualities that the HD600 appears to lack, strong highs and mids (given that you have a good source). You can read more about this combo from others. Its to die for

Hope this helps.

i personally thought gilmore lite was a touch too bright with hd600.

IMO, thats one of the strong points to the gilmore lite + hd600!
