Hey All,

My HD497's recently crapped out in one ear due to the insulation basically coming apart at the 2.5mm end of the cord, and taking some of the wire with it.

It just happened, I take really good care of these things - as they never leave my desk. I don't know if it's considered "wear and tear" or "factory defect"

My question is this - if I send it to Sennheiser, will they consider this a warranty replacement, or will I have to pay for a new cord? It's not a big deal, but I miss my portables =(. Anyone have any experience with this??

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks.

It depends on how old they are. Idk Sennheiser's warranty dept. has always screwed me up the arse so I would say they will charge you for a new cable, but I doubt you'll have to send them in, aren't the 497's cables user-replaceable? Or are they hardwired?

I guess calling or emailing Sennheiser would be a good start?
