I just had a listen to these, and wow, its bass shy:p On the cover it said "Powerful Bass" i dont hear anything even near powerful...

now does any one know which one has the better Clarity or similar and what about bass. i heard the portapros have alot of bass. but the PX200 seems to me fairly clear i can hear alot of nice details in the music.

The px200 is far different from the PortaPro.
The porta is one of the bassiest and darkest cans i've ever heard. Its clarity is not really good, especially the mid.
Meanwhile the px200 is a bright phones. I don't like it personally because of lacking of bass and fatigue treble.

Clarity i suppose is more important than bass.. and yes you are correct Lil'Knight alot of fatigue i felt with the PX200 and yeah very bright...
oh ok then i suppose the PortaPros is off the table, back to some other cheap with good clarity, and bass :p

The PX200 are not bass-monsters, and unless you get a good seal the bass will be rather weak. If you can get a good seal (and this seems to be very ear-shape dependent) the bass is decent and does not interfere with the details.
IMO PortaPro were rather bass-heavy which washed over some of the mids obscuring the details.
Of course this is based on my personal taste and the preference for tighter, more controlled bass.

Hehe after even my Ultrasone Pro 750 suppose to be closed, i had to turn the volume up (it actually entice me to because the fatigue is soooo much reduced it felt very nice on mid-high volume) and it leaks sound thou :p but Porta Pros would leak even more, PX200 was in the same boat. But yeah the PX200 i can hear alot of details outside :p

You can try the KSC35 which I think a good mixture of the porta and px200. It has lesser bass than Porta but more clarity and the mid is better. Plus, you can mod it in many ways (krammer, recable or 75ohm) to improve it in the way you like.

thanks for the suggestion Lil'Knight, but they are clip ons. might be uncomfortable, hehe comfortable is also a key.

Yeah, it's clip-ons and leaks even more than the porta

Personally, I feel the KSC35 is more comfortable than the porta. The headband clamps so tight that make my ears hurt

px100 is a better can than px200. Much better bass/clarity, but open.

Ever consider the ksc75 with the headband mod?

PX200s are awful. Just don't get them, instead if you want you could try their younger brother PX100. They don't even isolate that great either. I am not sure about Portapros. But IMHO PX100s are absolutley brilliant set of cans for their price.
