I have just taken delivery of Nordosts SPM reference 1m interconnect. I then plugged it into my "Bobby Orr" system and would you believe it, the so called veil or laid back sound dissappeared!!!!!

Now I was going to sell my senn hd600+cardas cable because even though the cardas helped it just wasn't enough for me. I had been using my sr-225's for everyday listening. I just wanted to muck about with the new cable. I don't really subscribe to interconnect theory but after this I might have to re-consider my views. The mid-range of the senns completely opened up and swallowed me whole. Now these sennhd600's sound like my rs-1's but without the slightly high top end of the rs-1's. I haven't tried it yet on my "Steve Yzerman" system yet.
If you thought the delivery hd600's sound was good you aint hearnd nothing like this.

Is it worth the price difference over the nordost red dawns? Nope, but then I can never go back to the red dawns.

I even had a quick blast with the sr-225's. This where it gets really scary, seeming I like the sr-225's as the best all rounder for me. Amazing. I might even try it with my RS-1's if I am brave enough.

There's no way I am selling my senns now, this just way too much fun. The senns have the mid range of the grado's. This can be a good/bad thing depending on taste's.

The sweetest thing besides this cables ability to make headphones sound even more better is that I got this for a bargain off ebay. I was surprised there were hardly any bids on this. I have a huge grin on my face as I am typing this because I am listening to my senns that totally kick butt and even better they are more comfortable than my grado's.

BTW This cable is ultra dynamic. The senn's alway sound quieter than the grado's no matter which amp I use. Not anymore

Sweet! Great news! I love hearing about this sort of thing! Congrats on the system improvement. I have always been a believer in synergy. For those that don't believe me, you should hear my ipod + cmoy (custom built by me) + hd650 setup. You wouldn't believe what you were listening to. Very humbling.

Hi GoRedwings19,

Looking at your sig, Steve Yzerman vs Bobby Orr. I haven't heard the GSP Solo but what don't you like about the HD600C with the EMP?

The tubey goodness of the EMP combined with the laid back senn is too laid back. Also the EMP really works better with grado's than senns. This is all IMO.
The GSP solo is solid state sounding (I hate that term but I don't know what else to call it) and works with the senns better than the grado's but it is still too laid back for my taste's. But plug in the SPM reference and *BAM* the senn hd600 midrange comes alive. I haven't tried it on the EMP yet but will do over the weekend. Having too much fun with Bobby Orr (dodgy sounding) at the moment. This cable is way too much overkill for either systems but am currently upgrading bit by bit. Next is my source which is really holding my sytem back. I was gonna do the amp first but I feel the source is the problem. Just can't find the right one for me though at a price I am willing to pay.

I don't know the current exchange rate from US/UK but I paid £385 for it. I don't even know the retail I think it's over £1000 here although I imagine it's chaeper in the US. Funny thing was there were only 5 bids and only 3 bidders. I was one of them. Did I pay more than the current used value????? I don't really mind seeming I got them cheaper than UK retail prices!!!!!

There's been tons of Nordost-bashing in the last several years, some of them reasonable. This doesn't change the fact the Nordost Quattro Fils (step above SPM and top dog before Valhallas came) have been the most consistently pleasurable, clear, detailed, all-around interconnects for me for many years.

Haven't heard the SPM, but it's reported to have a little extra apparent forwardness and speed compared to Quattro Fils, so I don't doubt it's a great match for Senns!

Well I use to use the nordost red dawns before the SPM's (only got the SPM's yesterday) and they couldn't help with the senns. The blue heaven interconnects would of been ideal for senns and a whole lot cheaper. But I am currently building bit by bit my ideal reference headphone system. Next is the source. I feel this alone would elevate my enjoyment of the hd600+SPM's. Then I gonna try them with my RS=1's!!!!! Don't know If I should

Now I wish I had a top end source or dac to match the rest of my bobby orr system. This is where I will see the biggest improvement. Back in a sec I'm off to audiogon.
