I've got my headphone choices narrowed down to either the Sennheiser HD250 IIs or the Beyerdynamic DT250-80s...

I'm unclear which headphone is clearer, though I know both are great on the bass.

I know the HD250 IIs have an Impedance of 300, while the dt250-80s have 80... I'm getting a total airhead to go with the headphones, but I could not get any info about the output impedance of the airhead... I'm leaning toward the dt250-80s, but I'm worried they will not have enough on the high end.

Advice?

I haven't heard those Beyers, but I own those Sennheisers, and I have to say, they are my least favorite headphones that I've ever heard.

I'd go with the beyers, simply because they sound great and don't hear many good things about the 250 II

Haven't heard the Senns but I would second the vote for Beyer DT250-80's. I use mine at work from portable sources and they've helped me through many a boring day

Just received my JMT and the Beyers just sound better and better by the hour

I think I could happily live with them as my sole set of cans but I purchased in the wrong order (got the HD600's first). Having said that some of my poorer recorded CD's are more listenable on the Beyers.

Based on FR comparison using graphs from HeadRoom, you'd get more treble from the HD250 II, sure, but at the expense of *very* recessed bass to low midrange.

They only have a graph for the Beyer DT250-250 here, but if the 250-80 is like the -250, it should be pretty balanced... no lack of treble either

edit: maybe *some* lack of treble
