Thanks for the quick reply. Isn't the PIMETA a DIY amp. Wouldn't I have to build it, if so do you have a step by step link on how to construct it? Better yet is there a website that sells PIMETAs already made for cheap. Thanks again. Peace.

Another posibility would be the Pocket Amp Version 2 from Electric Avenues. I bought on and had it delivered for $60 (I live in Florida and it was shipped from Canada). Gary the owner is a real nice guy too.

Good luck.

It is DIY but not recommended for a first time project. Info at Tangentsoft:

There are a number of reputable hobbyist builders here on headfi that can build PIMETAs for you (DIYFSE = Do It Yourself, For Someone Else). Several of them have their own websites -- PM me if you'd like some links/emails. Also, check the FS section -- lightly used PIMETAs come up frequently.

I really like my PIMETA. Although I have limited experience with amps better than PIMETA, for $150-$200 a nicely configured PIMETA is, IME, a huge upgrade from my cmoy, receiver, or unamped.

Oh, and welcome to head-fi! And sorry in advance about your wallet...

Some additional recommendations that mate well with the 580's

under $200: used Corda HA-1 Mk.I, Rega Ear

under $300: used Corda HA-1 Mk.II, Headroom MicroAmp, used ASL MGHead OTL

There have been a few threads on this recently. Here's one where Jahn & I recommended the Portaphile V2 (under $200):
