Senn. 280 Pro vs Beyer DT770

Hm, just checked this out. Looks interesting...

I am also interested in how the dt-770s stack up against the senn 280s? Can the 770s be used for monitoring purposes? And how do the two compare in terms of noise isolation?

Heh. Aren't the DT770's "really hard to drive" and the 280's merely "kinda hard to drive"

What about the Ultrasone HFI-650? Dont those have lots of isolation?

Gluegun,

I think the older(?) DT770 were 600 ohms and the newer version are 250 ohms. Which should make them easier to drive. The Senn. 280 are 'kinda hard to drive', as you put it. It does ok with the hp out from my ct570, but I would not recommend it. I can drive 'em easily with my Corda ha-1 and cha47(modded).

Can't speak to the Ultrasone. That's a question for kelly.(?)

But the Ultrasones have a higher impedance than the 280?

And that's half price over what we get it in the UK, which is a few hundred miles away from Germany.... What?

Bump because I need to know before the ebay auction finishes. Assuming one has a reasonably good amp on both(lets say a cha47 or a lowend meta42), which is better, the HD280 or the 250-impedance DT770?

To my ears, the DT770 Pro is clearly better and more musical than the HD280.
