Hello,

I am hoping someone can answer a question for me.

I just purchased the Senn 280 Pro closed headphones. Wow, what a difference from my cheap(!) Koss $20 headphones I've been using for the past few years!

I've only had the Senn for the past few days and am hearing low volume white noise. I hear it during low portions of the music and when there is nothing playing. When there is a lot of music then I don't hear it over the music. I hope this is making some sense. I have not heard it with my inexpensive Koss. I have no other headphones. I hear the noise regardless of volume.

I play classic rock and classical. I use a Panasonic shelf system. Play CDs and radio.

Is this low volume white noise from the headphones? From the CD player? Am I crazy?

Thank you for your assistance.

Senn HD280s are actually made for recording applications. You would certainly hear the hiss from your player. I had them for quite a few days. But I had gone for Ultrasone HFI-650s, they conquer each and every department compared to Senns. Well there is the price factor also. But Senns are certainly a good choice to start with and they have got superb isolation. They are good for all sorts of music.

Welcome to the world of not crappy headphones. For music the 280s are decent at best, but very good when using them for recording purposes. I also use mine for that purpose. Soon you'll probaby get that itch of upgrading your headphones. For just a little more you can get way better.
