So I've given up on IEMs. Putting something inside my ear canal just doesn't work for me unfortunately (I've tried many, with many many eartips). Today I received a pair of custom silicone eartips, and it kind of sealed the deal that IEMs are not for me.

Earbuds usually don't work for me either. Since I have small ears, they become sore from your standard round earbuds really quickly.

The only thing that has ever worked is a sort of Semi-IEM. Like the Beyerdynamics Byrd design, or like Bose earbuds. Where they very lightly seal the opening to your earcanal, but don't really go inside. These are usually contoured better than typical airplane earbud shaped earbuds, and distribute the weight better within the ear.

Only problem is I can't seem to find any Hifi sounding options for these?

Do we have a thread for these type of Semi-IEMs? or do they have a specific name to that type of design fit?

Thanks for any and all help! :)

They are more commobly being referred as 'half in-ear'.

Beyerdynamic Xelento is probably the best sounding half in-ear I have ever tried.

This is an awesome start! Googling that does come up with a good bit of results. Mostly Airpod type earphones, but it's better than nothing.

The Xelento is a half-in ear?
