ok it's like this,i am selling my speakers in order to be able to buy headphones(RS-1 probably)
i will no longer have a speaker setup, just a headphone rig,i just don't want to bother my neighbours anymore.
i'm kind of worried about that,so i guess my question is:
can headphones be as satisfying as speakers?will i miss my speakers in the long term?

you're asking this at a headphone forum? try some speaker audio forum. see what they'll tell you.

I'm basically listening to phones for a slightly different reason: The poor acoustics of my new listening room have made my speakers less effective for serious listening.

They still sound great for action flicks and for many larger classical numbers where the imersive surround qualities and sub are used to their best effects, but for when instrument separation is important and great imaging is desired, the room gets in the way.

For everything else; the phones could very well be my only listening option.

On my speaker system there is no NO comparison but I have headphones because I am moving around all the time and my system is in storage. If you are disturbing your neighbors then a compormise would be headphones. It took me some time to enjoy them and now I do. It is just a different mind set. Headphones, speakers, it is all pretty much a one person hobby anyways. Try sitting in the sweet spot with more than one person.

Well, that's kind of a broad generalization. It really depends which JBls the OP has........I have a pair of vintage (1964) JBL Apollo LARGE floorstanders with 15" woofer and massive mid/tweeter horn that puts out a sound that I defy any headphone to duplicate.
I love headphones, but I'm also a realist.

I wouldn't either! I have a pair of L520s and I love 'em, so I can only imagine what the L810s would sound like. Enjoy.

if you have any other way to do it, keep your jbls. assuming you love them. if you dont then sell and dont look back.

if you have speakers that you consider "ultimate", like me with my kef 105.2's and time windows, and these other guys with jbl and ads that are killer, you should not sell. but if yours are no big deal, just the speakers you're using, then i wouldn't hesitate, because when you do wanna hear speaks again you're gonna want to upgrade.

First, I am a speaker person first and foremost. I like my Audio Technica A900's and love my portable set-up with my Atrio M5's.

Nothing in a headphone will beat the sound of my ADS L1290 towers at home. Those, coupled with Klipsch sub and rears give me a great sound. I love my ADS 1290's.

Wow, that's very nice speakers.

I have L830; the thing is that both speakers and headphones will give you different experience, so it may be wise to save them for the future..

If you don't have a headphone rig now, then how could you know whether you will miss your speakers yet? And how did you get through 143 posts without actually buying a pair of headphones yet? I would strongly recommend against selling all your possessions to get a headphone rig unless you've had time to test whether you really want to go down the headphone road anyway. There are headphones that will give you a large percentage of the pleasure of an RS-1 at a fraction of the cost. If you buy used, then you can sell for the same price minus shipping if at some later point the RS-1 is still calling for you. (and you may want to go used anyway, as I understand new headphones are hard to procure in Israel)

Generally, I'd say headphones versus speakers often comes down to where you will actually be doing your listening. I found myself heading into headphones only when I faced the fact that between work and moving overseas I was going music-hungry, never really getting to listen to my home system.

In fact right now I'm listening to my RS1's and really like them, would I have sold my Paradigm Studio 40's to get them? Nope, as much as I enjoy my phones I can't image parting with my speakers.

As tempting as it is raise some quick cash you might just be better off to wait unless you were already thinking of another speaker set you might want later down the road
