Ever since I joined the head-fi.org I've been longing to do work with Grado Labs. Especially knowing it's in NYC where I live. In the past I've designed from car to cane. I really need your help to network and would like to pitch for some designs at the great american audio company. Thanks.

No. Don't need product ideas, that's my job.

More like his direct number, email, or some kinda contact if any member has established prior. Also reference for example.

Just call Grado Labs (# is on website) and ask to speak to John Grado.......chances are he'll come to the phone. I've called and he picked up. It really is a rather small, homey company.

If I ever get to NYC I'm gonna pop by and invite him for a drink. I'd love to have a highball and a chat with him.

I have Talked to John many times and he really does answer the phone alot there..its weird to think but its true.

John is a great guy but he may sound alittle backed off by your offer at first..probably ask you to repeat parts of it after you tell him.

Come up with a Resume and go down there one day and ask him nicely for 2mins of his time. don't kiss butt to much and remember this guy is a very smart and strict business man!!!! be profressional, plan your atact out nicely, and be real!

I wish you the best of luck and let us know what comes of this to!!!!

If anything you'll have a cool trip to the legend of a ghetto place named Grado labs!!!

Very surprised to find out John is easily available on the phone! Yes I'll give him a ring after I put my portfolio together. Then I'll try to set up an appointment to sit down and discuss it in detail.

How ghetto is it??? I should find out on google map...

From the pics I have seen and stories I have heard (yes I have not been there ..YET!) is the building is old school and just a surpise so much beauty and art comes from something of this build. I didnt mean Grado is in the middle of a ghetto but the pics arent some high tech building with all the latest features and tech there is if you get what I am saying..

I think the arua of the building is just a peice of the Grado history and I would have liked to hear about it and seen the pics of it no other way..

its speacil and you (and everyone else in NY) should be honored to be able to visit such a place where from the cover looks like nothing but to anyone who knows headphones/cartridges will see that building as a church in ways..

Perhaps you could be hired as the guy in charge of bringing back the HP series!

That would be superb!

I wouldn't limit it to only high-end fons, but really attacking the existing problems which seems to same old question.
Such obvious negatives are: uncomfortable sponge pads, twisting Y cable, 1/8-1/4" plug adapter, raw plastic finish touches, cheapo vinyl headband, etc. Personally I do like the classic pilot look of Grados, but there can be considerable improvements in ergonomic, fit/finish and material for sure.

Of course all this done without sacrificing the signature grado sound.
