Just wanted to bump this thread.... as I listen to Flac on my 64GB cell phone running to a portable amp/dac.

This thread makes me wonder what new technology will bring about any discernable improvement in recorded music. I think the CD's promise of perfect music, perfect for ever was not an overstatement. Today's hi-rez and SACD recordings do not seem to me, from my own experiments, to sound better than CD although some folks it appears do accept the notion that hi-rez stereo downloads are the future of audio.
