So here's the deal: I have a pair of Elears paired with Simaudio 430HAD, and am looking for another hp to fill some gaps. I really like this setup for much of the music I listen to (75% jazz and 25% classical) but it doesn't cut bait for all.

Criteria:
  • >$900 <$2500 USD
  • Better soundstage - main criteria for classical music
  • More laid back
  • No Sennheisers
  • I'm sensitive to bright upper mids and treble
Any good ideas?

I'd go with the LCD-3 considering that it is even more laid-back than the LCD-2 and has a wider soundstage, clearer instrument separation, and better imagining. This is coming off of listening to the PRE-fazor LCD-3, mind you.

I received a Black Dragon cable yesterday. Right out of the box (ziplock) it smoothed out the higher frequencies. To my ears it's just what I was looking for.

That leaves the sound stage issue. I appreciate the Audeze suggestions! Any other non Sennheiser suggestions? Thanks
