Hi Guys, first post here.

the DAC im using today is Muse PCM2704 and i want to upgrade it and enter the Tube "world" on a tight budget.

it's connected to a Vintage amplifier (Pioneer SA-7300). (Computer->DAC->Amplifier)

no need for the headphone input, though its nice to have.

what would you recommand ?

thanks in advance.

Also take a look at the HiFiMan EF2A it's a dac/amp about 170. Pangea make a HP 201 tube amp looks good but i've never heard one..

The PCM2704 is a very decent DAC chip, guess it's not very marketable as it's only 16-bit/44.1.
But CD audio is 16-bit/44.1K, so it's good enough for music.
You might consider to just get a basic tube amplifier with pre-outputs.

thanks, but im hooking a turntable to the amplifier, so replacing the amplifier is a bit hard at the moment.

i bet there's a nice budget chinese Tube-based DAC out there, or a headphone amp with a function to bypass the headphone jack and make it a straight DAC ?
