Hi all,

My first post in a while, due to tortured frustration & confusion choosing a high end pair of IEMs.

I've been into audio for a while, but not reached the high end of IEMs yet. Currently use SE425s mainly, but will switch to Klipsch R6i for a warmer, more 'fun' listen.

Onto my home rig, I've almost found perfection.

Raspberry Pi > W4S reclocker > Schiit Gumby > Cavalli liquid carbon > Oppo PM3.

I know this a mobile audio thread, but that's an indication of what sounds right to me.

I'll be using a Chord Mojo and phone as transport for whatever IEMs I end up buying.

Opinion based question . . . out of the W60, SE846 and IE800 - which one do you feel will get me closest? In very broad terms of course!!

I find the SE425s to be a little 'shouty' at times, the R6is a tad gloopy. Also have ER4Ps which I used to love, but they do lean towards the clinical - analysis over foot tapping.

Only other point worth mentioning. I don't really like Sennhesier as a rule. Chose DT880s over HD600, felt there was a lack of body and whispiness to the Senns.

Listen to all sorts, mainly rock & metal though, but EDM and classical depending on mood.

For me, the last part of the audio nirvana puzzle is frequency congestion. In busy complex metal, I've always found a confusion, blurriness during faster parts. Not expecting to dial this out with IEMs, but I fear the SE846s will lean that way?

On my home rig, I had to go fully balanced and mono bloc amps before I really got on top of that.

I find myself in a part of the world devoid of anywhere to audition these cans. Just looking for a steer?

I'm a BA guy, so for me IE800 is the first one out. Also BA known to be faster than dynamic ;).

About Shure vs Westone, i tend to lean to Shure. More musical. Westone's treble tend to pierce my ears I couldn't stand them.

Having said that, Westone feels more detailed so sometimes I do feel missing something while listening classical on my Shures. But I chose that compromise :).

TL, DR: go with SE846.
