Title. I own a pair of the SE846s and use them directly on the S8+. However, I'm not sure if getting a proper DAP like the X7 II will be better, sound quality wise talking. On my PC, I own the FiiO E10K and I'm a TIDAL subscriber.

My questions are:

1. The difference between S8+ Exynos vs X7 II (with SE846)
2. The difference between e10k vs X7 II (with SE846)

Hope someone can clear this up!

Thanks!

X7 Mark II with dual DACs will definitely give you a better decoding as compared to both S8+ and E10k. The differences will be significant if you are using the balanced output of X7-II. The sound will be more balance and cleaner due to the interference pattern of the balance output. Each DAC chip is used to decode the signal for each channel. SE846 is totl of Shure and definitely worth it for you to get a DAP for it. Do note that you need to change the cable as well to enjoy the balanced output (4 poles 2.5mm jack). E10K is a entry level desktop DAC AMP and I think it is pretty unfair to do a comparison between it and X7-II. Cheers!

I have both S8 Active and X7 ii, S8 Active sounds quite ok to good to me, but X7 ii is definitely on another level.

And in my opinion e10k is not able to compete with X7ii in terms of sound.
