Just got my SE530, they sound okay-ish, that's about it thus far to be honest. The bass, erm..it's deep, but its not impactfull, it's not powerfull, and it's underwelming. I had read so many things about this headphone being warm, with big deep bass.. i don't hear it thats for sure. Half of the foam tips supplied have been squashed into an unusable shape aswell, so have the triple flanges. The only good thing i would say is the PTH, which is pretty clear and good as far as microphones go. I have checked and made sure i have a good seal aswell - which i do, infact they fit very well.

I suppose what i'm really asking is do these things benefit from burn in ? because at the moment i'm think there worth about £10 more the the Creative earphones that came with the zen, and the zen's bass is more, well theres just more of it, but i wouldn't go as far to say ass the bass on the creatives are good. And just incase you know im not a basshead by any means, i find the Grado SR225's bass to be overpowering.

I really hope they do benefit...

Shure's representatives have indicated that burn-in is not required for the armature drivers in the SE530.

If you're not getting enough bass from the SE530, then you most likely have not gotten a good seal.

it feels asthough i have a great seal.

I don't beleive the Shure representatives, the drivers move, burn in will make them move better. It's just plain physics. How did they come to that conclusion ?

I'll leave them on pink noise for 3 hours and come to my own conclusion on burn in.

I read that 3 times and thought it said inside your ear, each time getting more and more confused, untill finally i read it correctly

How far away from the ear ?

lol thats ya problem, if you can get your fingers INSIDE yur ear while wearing te shure's you definitely dnt have a good seal lol

Anyway, I do it 1/2" away or closer while not touching the ear and if I cant hear them rub together then I am happy I have a good seal.

Also, and I know this is obvius, but have a try with dfferent eartips, for me personally I quite like the flange tips, but, the foamies are really good at giving a tight seal, roll them first before you put them in, and liftyour ear up and out, with your mouth open withyour other hand as you are inserting them and hold them in there for 10 seonds or so until the foam expands.

Bearing in mind I know you are probably familiar with this technique, but I thought I wold mention it JUST IN CASE...

Also, dont be afraid to push them right in, you will know when they are good n deep as it may feel a bit of a strange sensation to get used to at first, but that quickly disappears (IF you havet been getting them deep andwell seale enough before now)

Good luck with it mate.

p.s. jut read about the foamies arriving all misshaped.

Mine have all arrived that way some worse, some not so bad, but honestly, the will be fine, just roll em tightly between ya fingers and squeeze thm as you do so and they will regain their shape in a couple of minutes.

I was scared of squashing and squeezing the tips when I first got them yself, but they are literally like a memory foam and will expand back to pretty uch their original shape.

Got a perfect fit..can't here my thingers when doing that thing.

Would still certainly describe these headphones ass bass deficient.

Just did a bass test, subs are working fine. Was audible down to about 25hz.
Just did as you said and pushed them in hard, thats a bit better - still not happy. Maybe it's because i have my memory of some ATH-CK7's...herd they had very prominent bass.

I've just realised, deep guitar notes are just very clear. Maybe i'm not used to what i would call very in controll bass, but thats were im confused

thats why many people prefer the triple.fi's because the 530's bass tends to take over mid-bass and mid ranges (supposedly, somehow

)

About the foam tips, no some of them are all crinkled and seriously dented and ruined were the nozzle would be.

I have to admit, I do want to sample the ue sound signature at some stage, they have an extended bass variant of (I think) their super fi 5.

Obviously I can't compare the bass with those as I have never heard them, but the se50, when compared with the ety er4 and even my esw9 is sort of darker and deeper if you know what I mean. Of course, in comparison to the ety's some would say thats no surprise, but for me, I do honestly think the et's have great bass... provided of course the seal is there.

Anyway, sorry that you still feel sorta underwhelmd with what you wanted from the earphones, always a bit of a bummer if a new toy doesn't quite live up to expectatons.

Perhaps, your expectation is little more than SE530 can provide? I was using Ety ER4S for few years before I bought SE530. Oh my... talk about the deep bass, SE530 has more bass than I ever hope from a pair of IEM. Then again, compare to DT770, HD-650 or Grado RS-1/2, SE530 doens't hold a candle in bass impact against these beasts. But you can't expect an IEM to have more powerful bass than these full sized phones with amps. I've heard several IEMS, but SE530 has one of the very best, full, articulated yet tight bass (not boomy nor uncontrolled).

In addition, until I learn to listen critically, I thought my good ol' Sony MDR-V6 has a perfect bass. Now, I can't stand its boomy, inflated, and uncontrolled bass.

I didn't hear any burn in benefits on mine. As far as I'm concerned, the sound quality was the same from the day I bought it and weeks later.
