Seriously? lol

I just came across a 3yo linus video talking about the Schitt brand and thought I'd see what amazon has for them. I came across this and was mainly dumbfouned by the name however it left me wondering What it does..... it's usb in and usb out....... I figured that rather than scrolling through amazon info I'd hit this forum up as it's supposedly where schitt has it's roots.

With all of that said I am looking for a complete audio solution on my PC. I have a tube headphone amp/preamp and while I love it, the thing is pure crap (not the sound of the tubes, the hardware it uses).

So my convoluted question would be, is there a schitt solution that will give me headphone and speaker output? bonus point's for throwing in a tube pre-amp which I can use or leave off.

The Jotunheim is a good suggestion for a combo DAC/amp/preamp. The Modi 2 and the Magni 2 together are the same thing, a DAC and an amp/preamp in separate boxes, and come in a few versions each. But you mentioned you like the sound of tubes, so in that case you may want to consider a Vali in place of the Magni.

You may not need a USB "decrappifier". You said yourself your audio hardware is crap. I'd put some basic Schiit in place and give a good listen before adding a Wyrd or anything like it. And as you move higher up the Schiit price list you'll find that their higher-end DACs like the Bifrost now include the "USB Gen 5" interface, which does all the decrappifying by itself. If you go with one of those a Wyrd would no longer be required.

OK?

The Jot with DAC is in no way the same as the Modi 2 and Magni 2 together.

Agreed, it is much much more than just that. But it is optionally a DAC and amp/preamp in one box. Based on the OP's original question I'm betting he'd rather have at least one tube sticking out of his amp. That would not lead us to a Jotunheim, but rather to separates. So perhaps we don't need to expand on this topic unless @Protek67 likes the Jot's features and asks more about them.

Well, I have been all over the place on this audio journey. It's very confusing and I tend to act on impulse and throw random post's out to maybe make sense of it. Today I decided to keep my tube amp and just make sure it doesn't get bumped. I assumed the flimsy power connector was intentional so it isn't being moved around during use, but found some harsh input from people. One big thing I am learning today as well, it's not all about hardware rather quality source content is important. I might add equipment at a later point but I'm going to enjoy what I have for a while. Also I found that going through articles on this site are very useful.

OK enjoy, no pressure, but just FYI today Schiit lowered the price of the Vali to $149 due to new production efficiencies.

Ok, so now I get the decrapifier product. I have been on my topping dx7 for a few weeks now and while music is just fine, I run into random noise while watching youtube. Also I have situations where the audio wobbles between left and right, in music I believe it is intentional however I doubt it is on youtube. I also have a schiit stack, magni and modi that I am going to spend time on before giving to my friend, and I am curious to understand the differences. A quick comparison shows very small differences when listening to lossless audio but I think the real difference will be in sub par decoding.
