Schiit Yggdrasil Impressions thread

*edit*
Secondary points address the interpretation, which call into question measurement data from atomicbob. Most if not all of the oscilloscope images appear to have been taken over a very narrow range of the frequency spectrum. Amir's data supposedly includes a much broader range.

This issue has been raised multiple times. I would like to address it once and for all. The dScope oscilloscope displays are unfiltered time domain data.
Here are some examples:

yggdrasil A2 -120 dBFS relative to 2Vrms sine:

yggdrasil A2 -90 dBFS relative to 2Vrms SQUARE WAVE:

Those last three are square waves. If filtering were engaged the rise and fall times on the square waves would be rounded considerably resulting in waveforms that resembled sine waves.

My suite of DAC measurements are AES17-2015 compliant. If someone believes any of my measurements are not compliant, please cite the non-compliance issue and be specific. No arm waving or arm chair quarterbacking. I will address any legitimate non-compliance issue.

Don't mean to derail the drama but can someone recommend a decent AES cable under 200ish?
I've tried many. I found that to be a very important cable from a sound quality perspective with the Yggy. Under $200, the Wireworld Starlight 7 was probably my favorite. If you get it in 1.5m which some argue is the optimal length due to reflections, it's $150. I have an excellent sounding Shunyata Cobra that I'd part with for $250 ($500 new). I've since gone to the Shunyata Sigma I liked it so much.

I had same problem with Yggy analong 2 and using both RCA outs at the same time. Didn't matter whether the amps were on or off. Some people suggested it could be due to how the RCA's were grounded. Couldn't get it figured out. Ended up using one RCA and one balanced out. That is an option I would use with the WA5. I have the same amp, V2 anyway. It accepts balanced input cables. That totally eliminated the problem for me.

Try the dh-labs silver sonic d-110. Worked great with the yggy and if you have basic soldering skills you can DIY it for a bargain.

Thank you for finally putting this issue to rest(I hope)

http://signalcable.com/digitalbalanced.html

I used to use their Silver Resolution AES cable (no longer on the website) until I upgraded to Gen 5 USB. All my XLRs are Signal Silver. Very good cables for a reasonable price.

+1. I have not used their AES cables, but I have compared their balanced and RCA cables to cables costing as much as 5 times more. They were very similar in my system, but the Signal cables were slightly better.
