Schiit Yggdrasil Impressions thread

I'll be joining this club soon. Just placed an order for an Yggdrasil and Jotunheim to pair up with my HD650!

Now let me go hide my wallet ...
Mine was just recovering from the Yggy and then I ordered a Ampsandsound Kenzie a few days ago and it's still in the corner shaking and whimpering .

I'm looking forward to your impressions of Yggy! I have the Jotunheim and the HD650, using mimby right now.

New centerpiece for my rig, exceptional DAC through and through. I was wondering what tube amplifiers pair well with the Yggdrasil.

The Amps and Sound Kenzie might arrive tomorrow so I might have some better insight on this. Don't have the LCD's or 800's but will be using Ether C's and HD 700's. Still I think anything will pair with a Yggdrasil .

The new schiit tube/hybrid pre-amp probably.

Yggy arrived 3 days ago and it has been ON since then.

1st day is not worth mentioning. You know, just a new Schiit at home.
2nd day better.
3rd day, finally, I understand and I am quite impressed: details everywhere, musical, no harshness. Everything is going better and better. I will let it on more days and let's see then. Happy now

Same here, my yggy is over 6 days now and it's amazing how good redbook can sound :)

Man I want a Yggy!

Just do it, you know it's inevitable. The Count has NEVER sounded this good to my ears, well other than the time I sat in the 5th row right in front of the piano in Detroit.
Was the 70's either at Masonic Temple or the Fisher Theater.

it is amazing how good redbook sounds.  most people will never have equipment good enough to know, understandably so though at this price point.  or some just don't care!

Redbook can sound great even with (good but) lesser than Yggy DACs. For close listening, my Bimby/Jodie-based headphone chain (see my sig) does an outstanding job; my speaker system (see sig) does pretty well too. I know, delta-sigma DAC and Schiit-cursed class D amp, but a very good match to those speakers, and I've not yet found a way to fit an Yggy and a really good class AB amp into my living room space and wiring constraints.

Yep, that's what they built it for.

I've been mumbling to myself "...don't need no stinkin' Hi-Rez files..." for a year and a half now.

:D
