I've been having problems with my Schiit Modi 2 for about a year now; my computer will not recognize the device except after maybe 10-20 minutes of unplugging and plugging back in the USB cable. I've read a lot of posts elsewhere on the internet by people with the same problem and with no resolution despite the many offered solutions. The schiit drivers don't solve the problem, any usb driver update / etc doesn't work for me either. I gave up after a while but decided to ask here to see if there were any other solutions. I was thinking of selling it, but how could I if the problem is the DAC and not my computer? Anyway, if anyone has an idea please let me know; $100 is a lot of money for me, and I want to try to fix this before buying something else.

I'm sure you've tried it, but have you used a different USB cable and/or tried different USB ports? Sounds like a connection issue. Might be in the the USB port on the Modi, but could also be in the other hardware.

Also, have you tried it on another computer?

Thank you for your response. I have tried various other USB cables and ports, none of which have made a difference. What I would ask is how I could determine where exactly the problem lies. Is there a way to test ports in either my computer or in the Modi?

Maybe try it on your phone? See if the problem persists there. Have you also tried contacting Schiit support?

Definitely try on a second pc such as a laptop. It could be a Windows update that messed with it, could be some odd device setting

I've tried this and sadly have had the same problem, which leads me to believe it's the DAC. I've also owned another Modi in the past which I never had a problem with. Same computer and laptop.

In that case just contact Schiit Support. They won't bite!

I am having the same issue and have only had the schiit modi 2 uber for 1 week. I contacted schiit and upgraded to the bifrost multibit
and will be returning the modi 2. however the bifrost was lost in the mail and schiit is telling me that i have to wait until
fed ex locates the package until they will send me a new one. I am seriously unhappy with the schiit customer service and
i think my next step if this is not resolved in 24 hours will be to return all my equipment
and take my business elsewhere.

the bifrost mb arrived after much confusion on the part of fed ex. initially it sounds much more open than the modi 2 uber which i will now be returning.
