Schiit Lyr & Lyr 2 Tube Compatibility List

How long can one use a set of tubes before shutting them off from heat generally? (per session)

Heat is not an issue.  Tubes have a finite life, usually 5,000 to 10,000 hours.  You could turn the amp on and leave it until the tubes fail.  It will not hurt the amp, just waste the life of the tubes.

I turn mine on in the morning and shut it off at night.

I want to buy Genalex E88CC/6922 Gold Lions, and the store has options for balanced triods, high gain and low noise. Is it recommended to get this for Lyr 2?
here's where you'll get all the lyr 2 rolling nutters with a whole lot of info

they are currently going through a 2c51/5670 tube phase there (getting adapters to use them) but they roll tubes more often than i have coffees (and i have a coffee at least daily) :)

Genalex Gold Lion E88CC/6922. are considered to be one of the best current production vacuum tubes. You would want balanced triodes for your Lyr 2. Vacuum Tubes are normally quiet. High gain, and low noise are extra cost. Balanced, and matched pairs are what you are looking to purchase. You should spend some time checking out NOS tubes on ebay. E88CC/6922, E188CC/7308, 7DJ8, 6DJ8, 6N23P(Russian) all work w/ your Lyr 2. Good Hunting!

I love NOS tubes in my lyr 2 and Mj2, however I swear by the Genalex Gold Lion. I use these tubes for every day listening and save my NOS tubes for special occasions. In fact I have a pair of gold lions in my Liquid Glass. I have put up my NOS tubes up till the pesky hurricane season is over.

Ah, great, thanks! Yeah, there was some other weirdness in that post, too, that confused me. But the main thing was that I couldn't find any tube recommendations. :)
LOL. I have some tubes I recommend you buy :)

Well, I started with the Genalex Gold Lions and JJ tubes. I figured those were safe places to start. I'm going to be driving a pretty wide array of cans - LCD-3, HE-4xx, DT990Pro250, K701. I'm pretty new to tubes. I decided to go with the LISST tubes and bypass the stock ones from Schiit.

Greetings fellow Lyr & Lyr 2 lovers - It's been a while since I have been on the forum and figured to send a post and check on all my buddies out there! Hope you still tube rolling even in this madness of Covid-19.

Also, I was a bit miffed with the Lyr3 not supporting all the tubes we bought for the Lyr and Lyr2! Anyone of you guys have an opinion o n this?
